Governor Culver discusses flood preparations in Mason City

Posted on Sunday, March 7 at 3:08pm

The Mason City Globe Gazette reported on Governor Culver's visit last Thursday to talk about an I-JOBS project to repair building damaged by the floods and to discuss possible spring flooding. Here is an excerpt:

Gov. Chet Culver presented Mason City officials with an I-JOBs check Thursday but used the occasion to also warn citizens about possible spring flooding.

“With all the snow, the likelihood of flooding is pretty high, frankly,” the governor said during a presentation at City Hall.

“You’re obviously in River City here. You know the power of Mother Nature.”

He said he didn’t want to alarm people but wants citizens to be as prepared as possible in case floods hit.
