Press-Citizen coverage of Governor Culver's Visit to Iowa City

Posted on Friday, February 12 at 7:41pm

There was a great article in the Iowa Press-Citizen about Governor Culver's trip to Iowa City today. Here is an excerpt:

"We are committed to seeing this flood recovery all the way through," he said. "I believe at the end of the day, we're going to have the best infrastructure in the nation. Our economic future is bright because we're making these investments, and we're doing this without raising your taxes."

Those who attended said they were impressed with what Culver said.

...

"People need to hear that again," he said of the list of Culver's accomplishments stated by supporter and Coralville councilor Mitch Gross before the governor spoke. "He's surpassed their expectations."

Ed Flaherty of Iowa City also liked what he heard, saying Culver gave "a good, rousing talk" to supporters.

"He's not backing away that this is a unique situation," Flaherty said. "The money that is being spent is being spent wisely."
