Iowa's economy is still improving! An economic survey issued by Manpower, Inc. shows that Iowa's job outlook is the third-best in the nation. According to the survey 25% of Iowa companies plan to hire more staff in the coming months.

The Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier covered the story. Here's an excerpt:

Iowa's employment outlook ranks third in the nation, according to a third-quarter economic survey issued by Manpower Inc.

In fact, according to the organization, employers across the U.S. anticipate favorable hiring plans for the third quarter this year, marking three straight quarters of positive survey findings, according to the seasonally adjusted results of the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, conducted quarterly by Manpower.

Employers in Iowa expect to hire at a "solid pace" during the third quarter of 2010, according to the survey.

"From July to September, 25 percent of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees, while 6 percent expect to reduce their payrolls," Manpower spokeswoman Mary Ann Lasky said in a news release.

She said another 66 percent expect to maintain their current staff levels and 3 percent are not certain of their hiring plans. That translates to a net employment outlook of 19 percent, she said.
