Rep. Wayne Ford wrote a great guest column in the Des Moines Register today. He talks about the signs that the economy is adding jobs and gaining strength.
Here is an excerpt from Rep. Ford's column:
Like many Iowans, I was proud that Vice President Joe Biden took time from his busy schedule to come to Iowa. He applauded Gov. Chet Culver as being one of the leaders nationally when it comes to revitalizing a state economy.
Many Republicans in both houses of the Iowa legislature thought Culver was taking a risk when he replicated President Barack Obama's stimulus package in Iowa with the IJOBS program. I'm glad we Democrats supported him.
New reports out this month show Iowa's economy gaining strength and adding 15,400 jobs in the first three months of the year. According to the Iowa Department of Revenue, Iowa's March, 2010, index of leading economic indicators posted the largest single monthly increase since the index was established 11 years ago. The March report was also the sixth straight month of positive changes in the index.
